DuraCoat Firearm Finishes

DuraCoat SL Firearm Finishes

We use Duracoat SL on all of our DuraCoat projects!

DuraCoat SL is a self-lubricating, hard polymer that's resistant to oil, solvent, and wear. It's a two-part chemical coating that's used to finish firearms. DuraCoat SL is perfect for use on moving parts, internals, and holstered firearms.

DuraCoat SL is extremely hard and has a 6H pencil hardness rating. It resists 100 inch pounds of direct impact and 80 inch pounds of reverse impact.

With normal use, a firearm finished with DuraCoat SL will last several lifetimes.

DuraCoat® Firearm Finishes: A Revolutionary Gun Coating System

DuraCoat® SL – SL or Self Lubricating DuraCoat®

  • DuraCoat® SL – SL or Self Lubricating DuraCoat® has all the same properties as the original DuraCoat® plus added lubricity for the ultimate self lubricating/non-stick firearm finish.
  • SL has the perfect lubricity for the moving parts of a firearm, plus the corrosion proof characteristics of DuraCoat® Original, and offers reduced friction, longer wear, and the highest degree of scratch resistance.
  • The non-stick characteristics make cleaning your firearm a breeze.
  • The very latest in firearm finishing technology a two part chemical coating with Fluor Ax, a proprietary blend of lubricating chemicals which includes PTFE technology. Polytetrafluoroethytene (PTFE) is a fluorocarbon and thus substances containing water and/or oil cannot adhere to the surface of DuraCoat SL.
  • It resists 100 inch pounds of direct impact and 80 inch pounds of reverse impact. Its pencil hardness runs H to 2H.
  • Paint thickness averages .25mil per coat(color) thicker in wear areas such as corners to a maximum of 1.5mil.
  • Hotter Barrel temperatures?, no problem In those cases, let us know and we can apply our High Heat Coatings. This high performance coating is capable of with-standing temps of up to 1800 degrees. It is an excellent choice for barrels that will see sustained fire such as LMG barrels or full auto rifle barrels When exposed to these types of high temps the coating becomes even harder and more abrasion resistant. We have a limited color selection for our Hi-Temp coatings.
